My Initial Dissection and Highlights From Giants vs. Buccaneers

A big fat W!!!! That is what we got. FINALLY!!!!

Daniel Jones was the hero of the day and the Buccaneers suffered a shock to their systems. I have to say, it was a good game. It looked like a true football game which Giants fans haven’t seen in the longest time. We started our week off on the highest note!

Here were the highlights I took from the game:

To start off, Markus Golden and Alec Ogletree sacked Jameis Winston followed by another sack. Within the first few minutes of the game, the Giants committed two sacks!

Then, a little while later, with about 9 minutes left in the quarter Winston threw from 3rd& ten to Mike Evans for a touchdown. The Buccs kicker, Matt Gay, missed their first extra point attempt.

Aldrick Rosas was perfect as always and made a successful 34-yard field goal with four minutes left in the quarter.

Daniel Jones then came in for his NFL regular season debut and succeeded with his first pass being a throw to Sterling Shepard. His first pass was a successful completion. With 21 seconds left in the quarter, the Giants blocked another Buccaneers extra point attempt. Then to everyone’s pleasant surprise, Jones ran for a first down!

Next, Daniel Jones did the unthinkable and ran in for a touchdown. Jaws.Dropped.

During this game, Saquon successfully achieved 100 career receptions.

Winston is sacked again and then a few minutes later, Ogletree makes a fumble recovery and runs downfield but noticeably slowed down around midfield due to a hurt hamstring.

Jones then fumbled the ball which highlights his issue with ball security and his lack of pressure awareness which will come. After a pass to Saquon, he was on the ground obviously in pain and was helped off the field. Initially, it was reported that it was his ankle, then they reported that it was his foot, but it was confirmed later tonight that he was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain.

In the start of the third quarter, Jones threw to Engram for a big run straight down the sideline resulting in a touchdown. On Engram’s run, Slayton had a great block which allowed Engram to get further and end up in the end zone.

The Barber brothers were commentating and I’m not sure which one of them said it because they sound so much alike, but one of them said that he runs like a wideout and that is ABSOLUTLEY true.

The Giants decided to go for the two-point conversion and Jones’ pass to Sterling Shepard was successful. Soon after, unfortunately, Saquon and Ogletree were ruled out for the remainder of the game.

On fourth down, Golden once again goes for the sack and is successful. Saquon then returned to the sideline without pads and on crutches with a walking boot on his right foot and ankle.

Jones threw to Sterling Shepard on 3rd& Goal and Shepard scored with a solid and secure catch in the end zone.

Jones was sacked late in the third quarter. Soon after, Tae Davis was injured and wasn’t even checked in the sideline. He went straight to the locker room.

At the Bucc’s 1stand ten in the third, Lawrence II, the rookie out of Clemson and Giants 6thdraft pick, sacked Winston. The Buccs linebackers looked like they just stood there and watched.

Winston was sacked AGAIN with 11:03 left in the quarter. I’d say my stars of the game were obviously, Jones, Shepard, Engram, Lawrence II.

On the 3rd& 5 Ryan Connelly intercepted the ball from Jameis Winston! Beautiful.

On 4th& 5, with exactly 1:21 left in the fourth quarter, Jones runs it in for the game winning touchdown. I haven’t felt that excited about the Giants in a very long time. It was like that run and that touchdown was Daniel Jones resuscitating the Giants and the fans.

Buccs go for the field goal and boom. God immediately answered the prayer I said about 10 seconds prior. Buccs miss field goal. GIANTS. WIN!!!!

I didn’t know what to do with myself. I didn’t know what to do. This is a game that we will never ever everrrrr forget. And we shouldn’t. We now have a quarterback who can run. Something we haven’t had in the past 15 years. How wonderful!

Daniel Jones had an unforgettable and legendary NFL start. He has already scored two touchdwons himself. He has already led the team to a major comeback. Daniel Jones is here to stay and he has brought the mojo back to New York. The only way can be up from here. Eli congratulating and supporting Jones made my day.

The New York Football Giants are back!!!!
