On September 17, the New York Giants announced that they would be starting Daniel Jones at quarterback and benching Eli Manning.
To get right to the point, Eli, I am so thankful for you and appreciated and believed in you the whole entire time. Daniel, I expect a lot from you but I’m excited for you.
My thought is basically, if Daniel stinks today, there’s a possibility that they will keep him in either another game or for the rest of the season or they will become desperate and put Tanney in. OR they’ll put Eli back in.
I honestly think that this happened too soon. I’m not saying that because I’m a Giants fan or an Eli fan. That’s just coming from my perspective of a football fan. First of all, Todd Bowles is now the defensive coordinator for the Buccs and rookie quarterbacks are only 1-7 against him. I don’t think Daniel should have started this week because this is his debut. He’s not completely ready for the intensity of the Buccs defense… or is he. He had great performances in preseason but that was preseason but maybe that’ll carry over to regular season.
To put a rookie quarterback in against such a highly ranked defense is a major risk that I hope he can conquer.
I am very happy to say that this is probably my biggest concern. I’m not as worried about the O-Line this year as I was last year. They’ve allowed two sacks so far. Last year, they allowed 47 at by the end of the season which better not happen again. Ever.
I definitely saw improvement so far on the O-Line but it was too good to be true because now the backfield is nowhere to be seen. Like do we even have one?
I’m hoping Daniel can make a great amount of completions and I hate to say this but hopefully our offense can make up for the defense. I might backtrack what I said about not worrying about the O-Line because this Buccs defense is so good that the fact that we’re just improving now, might mean that they’re not ready for a defense like them.
The league’s eight-best overall defense. 304.0 yards allowed per game. This is what the Buccs have achieved.
They were able to prevent Christian McCaffrey from doing much damage so now with Jones, and hopefully a better passing game, they won’t be able to hold Saquon.
In the preseason, Daniel Jones had 29 completions from 34 attempts with a completion percentage of 85.3 percent. He threw for two touchdowns and was sacked twice. He is very similar to Eli. They were both coached by David Cutcliffe and is Eli’s so called “clone”.
I’m expecting at least two passing touchdowns and I assume and hope there’ll be at least one rushing. He’s been solid in practice and was solid in preseason. Although I still think this decision was made a little too early, and I’m devastated to see Eli benched, I’m very happy for Daniel and him getting this opportunity. There’s no need for people to hate on him in the least.
He is being presented with an opportunity and I truly expect him to do well. He should be over the moon, excited, and determined. Do we see the future of the New York Giants in Daniel Jones? Yes, I think we do.
Eli Manning is a sports legend and hero in New York and Daniel Jones is the future of football in this city so let’s see it happen!
Let’s goooooooo!
