Big South Champions!

Big South Champions!

Sports Center is truly noticing Monmouth athletics recently, as they should!

Last week on November 12, Sports Center featured Monmouth football in a compilation of their top college football plays! They spoke about Monmouth and their win against North Alabama with a score of 49-38 as well as focusing on a couple North Alabama plays.

During this game, Monmouth quarterback, Kenji Bahar, became Monmouth’s all-time touchdown passing leader. He completed 27 of 36 passing attempts and achieved 319 yards.

There’s also some big news around campus and a BIG trophy because on November 16 against Campbell University, the Hawks won their first ever Big South Championship!

The superb defense started the game off by forcing a punt on the first drive of the game and only gave up three points and forced four turnovers!

Star running back, Pete Guerriero, set the program record for all-purpose yards with 303 yards, 237 rushing yards, and four touchdowns.

Quarterback, Kenji Bahar, completed 11 of 20 passes for 205 yards and became the first player in program history to achieve over 3,000 total offensive yards in a single season.

To make this news even more exciting, this is the first ever Big South Championship and the Hawks will go to the FCS playoffs for the second time in three years. It also happens to be head coach, Kevin Callahan’s seventh career conference title.

Good luck to the Hawks who play their final regular season game this Saturday, November 23, against Hampton!
